Occupational therapy is goal-oriented rehabilitation that strengthens an individual’s skills and abilities while exploring alternative ways to manage everyday life. Clients are encouraged to take an active role in their own progress.

In occupational therapy, we make use of meaningful, motivating activities that are important to the client. Therapy is carried out primarily in the client’s own environments, such as at home, school, or local community spaces like libraries. We believe that every individual has the power to influence their own future, health, and wellbeing through their choices and actions.

You can access occupational therapy with a referral from a doctor or based on a recommendation from an occupational therapist from the referring party. The need for occupational therapy is often defined in the client’s rehabilitation plan. The cost of occupational therapy may be covered by KELA (intensive medical rehabilitation – more information is available on KELA website), a wellbeing services county, municipality/city, or an insurance company.

You can also attend therapy as a self-paying client. It is possible to receive a household deduction for occupational therapy.
